“Being transformative requires passion, pride, craft, the drive to be better every single hour of every day, and the commitment to put your signature on everything you create.”
I’ve spent over three decades creating unique B2B & B2C products & experiences for E-Commerce, Entertainment, Defense, Logistics, Healthcare, Financial Services, Automotive, Telecom, and IOT
Across my career as a consultant, contractor, or employee, I have helped hundreds of companies create and scale digital products & websites across a broad set of industries. Entertainment, retail, healthcare, military, commerce, social, business intelligence, logistics, and machine learning/AI. As well as across a broad set of platforms such as cloud, web, mobility, surface, and appliance computing environments (such as IoT, AR/VR.) I hold several patents in predictive analytics & logistics-based machine learning/AI.
I served as the Chief Design Officer of Artificial and Adaptive Intelligence at Oracle. My focus was to create and drive the user/customer empathetic vision, strategy, design, and architecture of Oracle’s Artificial Intelligence solutions, with a personal goal of transforming how people interact with hyper-personalized, cognitive, and intelligent connected systems.
As an insatiable learner & seeker, my background is a unique journey, from my early days as an award-winning advertising illustrator, Disney character animator, Game designer and entrepreneur. I continue to be a hands-on product leader with a sole focus on thrusting & lifting teams to create & scale transformational products and experiences.
I continue to expand my experience and understanding of the unique challenges inherent in creating, launching, and scaling platforms & products within a broad set of organizational & product maturity levels from bootstrapping, VC-backed, PE-backed, and Enterprise initiatives, including increasing Monthly/Annual Recurring Revenue (MRR/ARR) lowering attrition and expanding customer Lifetime Value (LTV) and overall Customer Acquisition (CAC).
I have taught classes & programs at the University of Kansas & the Kansas City Art Institute. I continue to mentor, lecture, and teach on a wide variety of subjects, from Futurism, AI & Machine Learning, Entrepreneurship, Strategy, Technology, Engineering, and Design.

have known and worked with Matt for over a decade. Matt is a multitalented inventor, technologist and artist. The combination of his many skills are why Matt is amazing to work with. If you get the chance to work with Matt I guarantee it will be a very productive, engaging and mind expanding experience.John BennettHealthcare Executive, Microsoft
I worked with Matt on the launch of an MVP where there were many potential directions the project could head and several competencies that needed to be applied. I engaged Matt as a UX designer but quickly found him to be multi-role player; like looking though a keyhole into a room filled with his talents. During our MVP design and development phase, Matt did a tremendous job envisioning and manifesting the consumer experience, while also contributing to data architecture, market differentiation, go-to-market strategy, and more. I also found his perspective as an entrepreneur and business leader tremendously helpful as we considered trade-offs and opportunities in the project. It's rare that you have the privilege to work alongside someone with strengths in so many dimensions.Michael SvatecAutograf
"I have had the pleasure of working with Matt off and on for the last 10 years, on a broad set of projects. Matt always surprises me with his innovative thinking, his ability to quickly understand the problems we are trying to solve and the quality of his design and end result. He is a rare breed, a hybrid of business, design, product, technology and creativity. I never have to worry about what he delivers, it’s always fresh, stellar & effective".James Pratt, PhDDIRECTOR, AT&T LABS
"Matt has an amazing ability to use his background as an artist and an engineer to quickly understand the core problems to be solved, provide many creative ideas to address the problem, and then ultimately create a solution that is unique, innovative, effective, and beautiful. Matt consistently exceeds my expectations by delivering the results faster than anticipated, by his plethora of creative and useful ideas he brings to the discussions, and, most importantly, by the exceptional quality of the final deliverable. Matt has my strongest recommendation for any business looking for an individual to help the with ideation and design for innovative projects."Andrew Mellin, MDVP POPULATION & RISK - MCKESSON
Matt brings a wealth a design experience and product management "thinking" that challenges the status quo to make things better. If you need to drive change to think "big", Matt's the kind of leader you want on your team. If you need leadership to help challenge the status quo, Matt's your guy. If you prefer safe, incremental change - honestly you don't need Matt's horsepower. It would be like asking a quarterhorse to pull a beer wagon.Mark PeiningSVP Sales & Partnerships, Gracehill
“Matt has a critical eye in generating product ideas and use cases that may not be apparent. He played a key role collaborating with me to develop application concepts and prototypes for mobile & data-driven applications such as our in-store strategy. The key qualities that Matt apart from other creators, his solid foundation in design principles. Using these principles, he can cover the wide gamut of design areas such as user research, user interaction, user experience, and prototyping.”Aditya RustgiDIRECTOR, PRODUCT MANAGEMENT - WALMART
“Matt’s ability to quickly discern the problems we were trying to solve and then provide visual solutions that solved our problem quickly, is a truly unique skill. He could synthesize complexity down to its most basic construct, and then create a vision & solutions that not only solved the problem but helped accelerate where we needed to go as a business.”Dave WilkinsonVP BIG DATA & ANALYTICS - IBM

My work below incorporates native & responsive web applications.
An important aspect to my approach is to clearly define the strategy and metrics that drive organizational alignment.
Without alignment, you increase the risk of continual moving targets, morale issues, politics & drama, ineffective product ideation, substantial tech debt & customer attrition.

How would you create a story that explained how AI would benefit a manufacturing business?
Here is how I created mine.
This video is a combined copy of an interactive presentation used in selling Adaptive Intelligence at Oracle World in 2018.
My early days in my career were spent creating innovative products and experiences in the consumer, advertising and gaming industries. I incorporate this engagement thinking into every project I create.

I have always been fascinated with 16-18th century portraits and the glazing techniques of that time. Dogs provided me a way to emotionally connect with a wide variety of people without the inherent bias associated with painting people. After all, who doesn’t like a dog?
I am always looking to for opportunities to work with great teams.
